Girls Tennis: Tigers shut out Durand

Lake City moves to 6-3 overall after 7-0 win in border battle

Playing in a non-conference match Monday against Durand (Wis.), the Lake City girls tennis team picked up the sweep, winning 7-0 at Lincoln High School in Lake City.

In No. 4 singles, the Tigers’ Katie Henning won a first-set tiebreaker with Durand’s Harly VanBrunt, going on to win the match in two sets.

In No. 1 doubles, the Lake City team of Allison Harvey and Katie Wallerich won Set 1 over Haylee Spinder and Brianna Kraft, 6-3. Then in the second set, the two teams duked it out point for point, with Harvey and Wallerich winning 7-5.

Improving to 6-3 on the year, the Tigers return to Hiawatha Valley League play today at Winona Cotter.
