One business fails tobacco compliance check
Joe’s Mobil, 609 Plum St., failed a tobacco compliance check Sept. 6, the Red Wing Police Department reported.
Joe’s Mobil, 609 Plum St., failed a tobacco compliance check Sept. 6, the Red Wing Police Department reported. The gas station was one of 18 businesses checked that day. The other 17 passed.
During a check, a police officer sends a minor into businesses and has them try to buy tobacco products. The minor must show ID if asked and cannot lie about their age. If the sale is made, the business fails the check.
The results of the check have been sent to the county attorney’s office for possible charges and to the city of Red Wing, which handles licensing.
