We are longtime fans of theater, both classic theater and history theater. It’s great to know the services of the Soapbox Players remain active. Right now, we want to see “8.”
It’s been playing all over the country, at least 200 readings according to recent reports. This weekend it’s playing in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Illinois and Red Wing. We’re coming to Red Wing.
Of course, you can read about this trial, the results of which are soon to be reviewed in one way or another by the United States Supreme Court. That legal text may be exciting in itself.
But the play cuts to the quick about the telling differences pro and con concerning basic questions of equality and the reality of human choices. How can you get any more vital than that?
Now that the Republicans and Democrats have made clear in their party platforms where they stand on the issue of marriage equality, getting alert on the drama is all the more relevant.
Can’t wait, but necessarily we will for this evening.
