Girls Swimming: Farmington handles Red Wing at home

Facing off in a dual meet with Farmington on Thursday, the Red Wing girls swimming team fell by a slim margin as the Tigers won 89-86.
Four Wingers, as well as a relay team, had first-place finishes on Thursday.
In the 100-yard butterfly, eighth-grader Claire King finished in first with a time of 1 minute, 6.97 seconds. In the 100 backstroke, Red Wing swimmers finished 1-2, with freshman Kelly Colwell taking first (1:11.92) and senior Abby Riegelman following in second place (1:13.50).
Ashley Thompson snatched first in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.51), and senior diver Jess Kolsky took top honors in the 1-meter dive with a score of 159.95.
Red Wing had a 1-2 finish in the 400 freestyle relay, with the team of Ingrid Olson, Carly Boisen, Hannah Kolsky and Amy Nemanich finishing in first with a time of 4:09.79. Riegelman, Polina Duchelle, Nina Kriese and Colwell had a second-place time of 4:26.10.
Red Wing dives back into action next Thursday in a dual meet at Chaska.
