Lake City scored two minutes into the game against Winona Cotter Tuesday but two unanswered goals gave Cotter a 2-1 victory in Winona.
Junior Alex McCormick knocked in the first goal of the game to give the Tigers (1-3, 0-2 HVL) a 1-0 lead that held until the 25th minute of the second half when Cotter’s Logan Hein scored to tie the game 1-1.
Hein added another goal 10 minutes later to give Cotter the win.
Despite leading at halftime, Lake City head coach Paul Oliver said the Tigers played with little energy.
“We came out flat in the first half,” he said. “We basically controlled the ball (in the second half) but couldn’t convert anything into the goal. We tried but nothing worked tonight.”
Lake City outshot Cotter 9-6.
The Tigers host Schaeffer Academy Thursday.
