Football: Cannon Falls recovers from a slow start

Cannon Falls spotted Winona Cotter a 14-0 lead but roared back for a 27-14 victory in Cannon Falls.

Bombers quarterback Hunter Johnson threw for two touchdowns and ran for another to catapult Cannon Falls past the Ramblers. Johnson finished 8 of 9 passing for 160 yards and ran for 99 yards.

Ian Althoff finished with 121 yards on 19 carries for the Bombers and Jordan Lundell led the team with three catches for 43 yards. Cannon Falls put up 434 yards of total offense

The Bombers trailed 14-0 after John DeMarais connected with Charlie Kretschmer with 10 minutes, 33 seconds left in the first half. The Ramblers took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter after they recovered a fumble and DeMarais found Jon Eichman for a 17-yard touchdown pass.

Cannon Falls went on to score the next four touchdowns and got started in the second quarter when Hunter Johnson found Noah Callister for a 33-yard touchdown pass with 6:44 left in the first half.

Lundell added 5-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and Johnson ran and threw for the next two touchdowns. Johnson completed a 15-yard pass to Colton Sande and ran in from a yard out for the final touchdown.

Clay Broze led the Bombers with 12 tackles and had a forced fumble. Saul Carter and Andrew Anderson each had seven tackles and a sack.

Cannon Falls faces Goodhue Friday in Goodhue.
