Teachers, district reach agreement
Teachers union Education Minnesota Red Wing voted Thursday morning in favor of a proposed master agreement with the Red Wing School District.
Teachers union Education Minnesota Red Wing voted Thursday morning in favor of a proposed master agreement with the Red Wing School District.
The new agreement includes a 1 percent salary increase for the 2011-12 school year and 1.9 percent increase for the 2012-13 school year. In addition, the district will now only be contributing to certain health insurance plans, but will be sponsoring a clinic for school district employees.
The district’s previous agreement expired June 30, 2011. Since then, the district and union have been working under the 2009-2011 agreement. District and union representatives have been meeting fairly regularly since early October to negotiate the new agreement. A mediator was brought in in June to help settle disagreements.
The Red Wing School Board will approve the teacher master agreement at its meeting Tuesday.
