St. Peter's will celebrate its 100th anniversary
St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Goodhue will celebrate its 100th anniversary Sunday Sept. 9. Two services will be held at the church, and a noon meal will be served at Goodhue School between worship.
St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Goodhue will celebrate its 100th anniversary Sunday Sept. 9. Two services will be held at the church, and a noon meal will be served at Goodhue School between worship.
The first service will be at 10 a.m. Guest preacher in this “Heritage” service will be Pastor Charles Degner, president of the Minnesota District of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. Pastor Mark Schroeder, synod president, will preach at the 2 p.m. service.
The congregation incorporated at June 3, 1912. During that summer the first church was built by Nick Matthees, a local contractor. Services were done in German until 1923 when the Church Constitution was read and adopted in English. The Rev. Randall Kuznicki is the current pastor and has served the congregation for 28 years.
