ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS

Notice is hereby given that sealed bids will be received at the office of the City Clerk, City Hall, 315 West Fourth Street, Red Wing, Minnesota until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday the 19th day of September, 2012, at which time they will be publicly opened and read. After tabulation, bids will be presented to the City Council in the City Hall in Red Wing at their next regular meeting for the furnishing of all labor, tools, materials, equipment and all else necessary for the construction of Bridge No.’s 25612 and 25J65 over Spring Creek, removal of Br. 3351, and approach grading on MUN 18 (Old MN 19) (SAP NO. 156-080-013), and removal of existing Bridge No.’s 122 and 1324 on MUN 11 (Cannon Bottom Road) over South Channel Cannon River (SAP 156-080-014), located in the City of Red Wing, Minnesota, consisting of the following major quantities of work:

All in accordance with plans and specifications on file at the City Engineering Department, 229 Tyler Road North, Red Wing, MN. Plans and Bidding Documents (proposal, special provisions, bid forms, and general instruction to bidders) may be examined at the Office of the City Engineer. Complete sets of Plans and Bidding Documents will be available for downloading on August 29, 2012 from the City of Red Wing website at http://www.red-wing.org and by clicking on “Quick Links”, then click on “Project & Equipment Bids”, and then click on “Bid Documents” for QuestCDN Project #2226587. There is a nonrefundable fee of $20.00 for the electronic Plans and Bidding Documents.

Bids must be on the basis of cash payment for the work and material, and no bid will be considered unless sealed and filed with the City Clerk at City Hall, 315 West Fourth Street, Red Wing, MN, and accompanied by a cash deposit, certified check or bidder’s bond payable to the City of Red Wing, for not less than five (5) percent of the bid, as a guarantee that the bidder will, if awarded the contract, enter promptly into an agreement with the City and furnish a performance bond for the full amount of the contract and a payment bond for the full amount of the contract as provided by law. The deposit will be subject to forfeiture as provided by law.

Cash deposits, certified checks and bidder’s bonds of the three lowest bidders may be retained until the contract has been awarded and executed, but no longer than thirty (30) days from the date of opening bids. All other deposits will be returned promptly.

The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any informality therein and to adjourn the meeting to a later date for the purpose of further consideration of the bids and taking action thereon. No bid may be withdrawn within thirty (30) days from the date of opening of bids.
