Community recreation briefs for Aug. 29, 2012
Water park
The Red Wing Water Park has closed for the season.
Hockey training
Students in grade 8 or above are invited to take part in hockey training classes Sept. 5-Oct. 31. On-ice skating instruction will be provided from 8:45 to 10:15 p.m. Mondays at Prairie Island Arena. Off-ice training will be 8 to 9:30 p.m. at the Red Wing High School weight room and will incorporate lifting, agility footwork, stability and custom training. Cost is $350.
Kickball
Middle school students are invited to play kickball from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. Thursdays starting Sept. 20 at the softball diamond across the street from the Twin Bluff Middle School tennis courts. Cost is $11. The class will meet for four weeks.
Elementary soccer
Soccer classes will be offered from 3:45 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays starting Sept. 18 at Burnside School. Cost is $11. The class will meet for four weeks.
Swimming lessons
Swimming lessons for youths ages 40 months and older will be 6 to 6:35 p.m. and 6:40 to 7:15 p.m. Monday and Wednesday evenings at the Twin Bluff pool. The lessons run for eight sessions, and another set of lessons will be available beginning Oct. 15. Cost is $38. Indicate your swimming lesson level when registering.
Coed volleyball
Coed adult volleyball begins Oct. 3. An organizational meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 19 in the Red Wing High School room L100. Enter through door 10. Team representatives should attend the meeting. Games will be played on Wednesday nights through February at the high school gym. Team fee is $225.
