Girls Tennis: John Marshall sweeps Lake City

Rochester John Marshall swept Lake City 7-0 Tuesday in Rochester.

The Tigers’ doubles teams lost two three-set matches while singles all went down in straight sets.

Katie Wallerich and Alison Harvey won the first set of their match against Christine Gorman and Sam Woog 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, but lost the final two sets 6-0, 7-5. Wallerich and Harvey had a 5-2 lead in the third set but couldn’t close the set out.

The No. 3 doubles team of Emily Moechnig and Katie Henning suffered a similar loss. Moechnig and Coyle won the first set 7-6 (4) but dropped the next two 6-3, 6-3 despite having a 3-2 lead in the third set.

Amy Orthaus lost 6-2, 7-6 (3) at No. 1 singles to Stefi Tetzloff and had a 5-2 lead in the first set at one point.

The Tigers face New Life Academy Thursday at East Ridge High School at 10 a.m.
