DWI enforcement campaign runs through Labor Day

“The hard consequences of drunk driving can be easily avoided by planning ahead and making smart decisions,” Col. Kevin Daly, chief of the State Patrol, said.

Last year 111 people were killed drunken driving crashes in Minnesota, and 68 percent of the deaths involved drivers that had alcohol concentrations twice the .08 limit, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety reported. However, the number of such deaths has been steadily decreasing and is down 34 percent from five years ago.
