Spotlight: Do you like to take photos? Ever have questions about your camera or looking for general photography tips? The Red Wing Photography Club welcomes you to join its Photo Chat every Wednesday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the upstairs meeting room of Caribou Coffee.
The club formed in 2008 with the idea that with so much natural beauty in and around Red Wing, there must be many photography enthusiasts - it seems they were right. Now there are more than 100 photographers with paid membership and at virtually every skill level.
Known as a different kind of photography club, there are no strict competitions or stringent rules about what types of photographs to present. The group shares a love of photography and education. Whether your photos come from a fixed lens “point and shoot,” an advanced SLR, digital or film, there is something available in the club for everyone.
Since club members’ focus is on education, they offer beginner, intermediate and advanced photography classes on a regular basis and also include a studio lighting workshop, composition class, photo critique class and an advanced exposure class. The club is developing new workshops in flash photography, a forensic photography workshop and more to come. All these classes are free to members.
The photo club welcomes everyone interested in becoming better at their hobby. If you love photography and getting together with fellow photographers, come join in. They have club meetings every third Monday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Anderson Center, 149 Tower View Drive.
