Letter: Kline should compromise and stop scare tactics
John Kline, why don’t you “Stop the biggest tax hike in American history”?By: Gary Anderson, The Republican Eagle
To the Editor:
John Kline, why don’t you “Stop the biggest tax hike in American history”?
You are Washington, Mr. Kline. You are a member of the Republican majority in the House of Representatives. You are the one who divisively votes to deny those with taxable income under $250,000 a continuation of their current lower rates. Why, because you and Grover Nordquist will not increase tax rates for those earning more than $250,000.
You are a congressman that has chosen to focus on social issues, repealing the Affordable Care Act (32 attempts) and taking every third week off. You have not proposed a realistic jobs bill. You are the one that votes against the rights of women and the LGBT community.
You are the one to blame for the uncertainty of employment and tax issues. If your constituents don’t believe this to be fact, they can view your voting record in the Library of Congress (http://thomas.loc.gov).
You made dire comments that went on for 30 column inches to instill a fear of a “tax hike” that would not have to happen. As a married senior citizen, I ask you to stop believing you are able to scare the senior citizen community with this tax nonsense. Virtually all of the warnings you gave under the headings of families and seniors are fraught with gross misrepresentation. Sadly, your comments in the Aug. 1 issue of the Eagle reflect the continual fear mongering, half empty glass, doom and gloom predictions of the Republican Party.
You guys need to lighten up and, for once in a while, try smiling. It isn’t going to hurt; it may even make you feel good. For instance, the GDP increased 1.5 percent in the 2nd quarter, employment is at 92 percent, the stock market is going gang-busters, we are out of Iraq and winding down in Afghanistan and a tax hike on those with taxable income over $250,000 would create many more than 700,000 jobs. My list goes on and is not filled with bombastic scare tactics.
Please compromise and stop the “tax hike” for 98 percent of the people.
