County employees can choose Long Term Care insurance
The Goodhue County Board voted unanimously at its meeting Thursday in Zumbrota to approve offering long-term care insurance to its employees.
“Long-term care insurance is insurance that provides coverage for employees whenever they go into a nursing home,” Melissa Cushing, human resources director, explained. The coverage will be voluntary, meaning the employee will pay the entire premium.
The vote had to come to the board before January because many insurance carriers have decided to discontinue offering long-term care insurance to new groups starting in January 2013, Cushing said.
