Letter: Vibrant community welcomes all families

To the Editor:

On behalf of the Red Wing PFLAG — Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, we extend a sincere thank you to the Red Wing Rotary Club for giving us the opportunity to walk in the River City Days parade. At the same time we thank the many area citizens who walked with us.

The number and broad range of supporters who joined our effort to encourage a “no” vote on the discriminatory marriage amendment was truly overwhelming. The warm, enthusiastic and respectful response encountered on the entire parade route was greatly appreciated.

We are proud and thankful to be a part of a community which recognizes that in order for it to be healthy and vibrant all families need to feel welcomed and valued.
