Superintendent gets good marks on evaluation
The Red Wing School Board is generally pleased with Supt. Karsten Anderson’s performance. At Monday’s meeting, the board summarized the results of the yearly superintendent evaluation, conducted in a closed session during the July 16 meeting.
“The goals and expectations of Supt. Anderson were met and the board felt very comfortable with what they saw,” Vice Chair Dennis Porter said.
The board graded Anderson as “meeting expectations” in several areas, including cooperating with other districts, being up-front with school board members and being knowledgeable about curricular developments. Areas flagged for improvement include various communication pieces, including with the community, staff and board.
Anderson became superintendent in July 2011.
Personnel changes
The board approved the following personnel changes:
New hire: Ashley Kincaid, assistant secretary for community education, effective Aug. 13; Abby Schroeder, FACS teacher at RWHS, effective Aug. 24.
Recall: Tricia Harris, science teacher at Twin Bluff, effective August 2012.
Resignation: Jo Seton, ABE program at Colvill, effective July 11; Dan Remus, industrial technology teacher at Twin Bluff, effective July 19.
Medical leave: Bonnie Mettling, sixth-grade teacher at Twin Bluff, effective through first semester of 2012-13 school year.
Meeting watch
Monday’s meeting lasted about 2.5 hours before going into two closed sessions to discuss allegations or charges against Tower View teacher Mark Phillips and labor negotiations. Board Chair Mitch Boldt and member Mike Christensen were absent.
