Cannon Falls won twice last weekend to advance in the Region 4C playoffs in Waterville.

The Bears beat Wells 12-1 Saturday and defeated Waterville 7-2 Sunday to move on to face Blue Earth Saturday at 1 p.m. in Cannon Falls in the tournament semifinals.

Keith Meyers struck out 16 hitters and allowed one run on three hits against Wells in eight innings. Meyers also went 2-for-4 at the plate with a run and an RBI.

Rich Burr drove in three runs with a 3-for-4 performance while Cory Hedeen went 1-for-1 with two RBI and Josh Harrsion knocked in two runs with a 3-for-4 day at the plate for Cannon Falls.

The Bears finished with 14 hits with four players tallying multiple hits. Cannon Falls held a 4-0 lead before the Wildcats pushed a run across in the bottom of the fourth inning.

The Bears added a run in the sixth and broke it open in the seventh with five runs to take a 10-1 lead. Cannon Falls pushed two more runs across in the eighth.

The Bears took control of their game against Waterville Sunday with a four-run seventh inning. Cannon Falls held a 3-2 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh and took a 7-2 lead with four runs.

Meyers went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI to lead the Bears while Brandon Voth hit two doubles and finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run. Nate Otto went 2-for-4 and Aaron Stein drove in two runs with a 1-for-1 performance. Stein hit a two-run homer for Cannon Falls in his one at-bat.

Bears starter Hedeen threw six innings and gave up two runs on six hits. Hedeen walked two and struck out six.

Cannon Falls drew eight walks and had seven hits.

The Bears grabbed a 1-0 lead after the first inning and made it 2-0 after the third inning.

Waterville got a run back in the fourth and tied it in the sixth before Cannon Falls retook the lead in the bottom of the sixth.
