Throughout the last 20 years, Mary Jane Alm has mesmerized regional audiences with her expressive voice, authentic songwriting and charming stage presence. Alm and her band will play at Crossings 8 p.m. Saturday Aug. 11.

She enjoys singing a wide range of music, from Pat Benatar to Patsy Cline covers, and she’s performed all kinds of music with various bands all over the United States and in China, Russia, Poland, Mexico, Bermuda and Puerto Rico.

Alm has been honored with multiple Minnesota Music Awards, including best female vocalist and artist of the year. She was inducted into the Mid-America Music Hall of Fame in 2007. She also has an Emmy Award for her work with the Music Workshop for Kids.

Her latest CD, “Me and the Wild Blue,” is a culmination of her career to date.

The Mary Jane Alm Band includes Boyd Lee on acoustic guitar and vocals, Gordy Johnson on bass, Scooter Nelson on percussion and vocals and Brian Peters on guitar and pedal steel.

Alm teaches music theory and vocal techniques at the Institute of Production and Recording in downtown Minneapolis.

“I think the reason I have been able to have such a long career in this crazy business is that I have always been open to doing anything as long as it involves music and is done with class and involves great players and singers,” Alm said.
