A Red Wing woman murdered by her boyfriend Friday night will be laid to rest this morning.
Cheyenne Terrisse Fiddler, 23, was the victim of an apparent murder-suicide in Reedsburg, Wis., Reedsburg police reported. Her boyfriend, 24-year-old George Rueben Snake, shot and killed her before turning the gun on himself, police said. The two were believed to be arguing before the incident happened.
According to law enforcement officials, Fiddler had recently moved in with Snake in Reedsburg.
Prior to the move, she had been a Red Wing resident. Her parents, Terence and Marcy, also live in Red Wing. Both are originally from Eagle Butte, S.D., where they returned earlier this week to prepare funeral services.
“We will be taking her back home to Eagle Butte for her final journey,” Marcy posted to Facebook on Saturday, along with a picture of her daughter titled “Cante Ohitika Win,” meaning brave-hearted woman.
Fiddler’s funeral will be a traditional Lakota service and will be at 11 a.m. today at the Cultural Center. She was a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, which is based in Eagle Butte.
