Local entities cited by MPCA for violations

Two local agencies were among the 34 fined by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency in the second quarter of 2012.

Xcel Energy was fined $5,500 for air quality violations at the Prairie Island nuclear plant, and Otte Log Homes and Construction in Cannon Falls was fined $1,000 for individual septic treatment system violations.

The 34 statewide enforcement cases totaled more than $326,000 in penalties.
