Nutrition and Cooking Class: Meals for One or Two
Join in and learn how to include fruits and vegetables in your diet at 2 p.m. Tuesday July 31. Instructor Ruthanne Koski leads the group and will include information on seasonal produce and also farmer’s market recipes. Cost $5 members, $7 nonmembers.
Active Older Adults meets
Get fit and stay healthy with Active Older Adults. Join the AOA at the YMCA 9 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. The class includes low-impact aerobics, strength training and stretching. Non-YMCA members pay $30 for 20 sessions.
Silver Tones
The Red Wing Senior Center choir, the Silver Tones, practices every Tuesday at 1 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, 615 W. Fifth St., under director Coleen Fowler and accompanist Cheryl Hemphil. If you like singing harmony, join in.
Seniors Helping Seniors
Seniors Helping Seniors volunteers are skilled and committed to helping other seniors who are experiencing distress in their lives. If you need someone to talk to or you know someone who does, contact Robin Wipperling at 651-385-3456.
Computers available
The center has two computers with access to the Internet available for members to use anytime from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Take a mystery trip
Be prepared for the unknown with a mystery trip, Thursday Aug. 16. There will be tours, talks and treat – but where? Plan to be getting on and off the bus several times and having a little time to shop. Lunch will be on your own. Cost $39 members, $44 nonmembers. Registration and payment due Friday Aug. 10.
Cards and games played
The following games will be played: 500 – 1 p.m. Monday July 23; Euchre – 1 p.m. Monday July 30; Scrabble - 1 p.m. Wednesdays; Fun Bridge – 10 a.m. Wednesdays.
Support services offered
Several support groups and services are available.
• Foot care clinic will be available Thursdays from 1 to 3:30 p.m. with a home health nurse. To schedule an appointment, call homecare and hospice at 651-385-3410. The cost is $32.
