Amateur Baseball: Cannon Falls still in hunt for playoff title

Cannon Falls defeated Hampton 7-1 Friday to advance in the Classic Cannon Valley League Class C playoffs in Cannon Falls, but fell 3-2 against Randolph Sunday in Cannon Falls.

Cannon Falls defeated Hampton 7-1 Friday to advance in the Classic Cannon Valley League Class C playoffs in Cannon Falls, but fell 3-2 against Randolph Sunday in Cannon Falls.

The Bears will face Hampton in an elimination game Wednesday in Cannon Falls. The winner will play Randolph Friday for the league title.

Cannon Falls tallied 12 hits against Hampton with Nate Otto going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Rich Burr finished 3-for-4 and Jamie Stay went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Josh Harrison and Luke Winchell also drove in runs.

Keith Meyers struck out 12 in six innings. Meyers walked three and allowed one run on six hits.

Randolph pushed three runs across in the top of the seventh and held on to beat the Bears Sunday in Cannon Falls.

The Bears took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning but that was it until the bottom of the seventh when they pushed one run across.

Both teams finished with nine hits and Taylor Pagel led Cannon Falls with a 3-for-3 performance and an RBI. Harrison went 2-for-4 as well.

Cory Hedeen started for the Bears and allowed three runs on seven hits in seven innings. Hedeen struck out six and did not walk a hitter.
