Marilyn Jean Josephson, 81, of Red Wing, died Friday, July 20, at her home.

Marilyn Jean Josephson, 81, of Red Wing, died Friday, July 20, at her home.

She was born on June 6, 1931, in Watertown, S.D., to Garrett and Jennie (Koyman) Sikkink. She graduated in 1949 from Watertown High School. She then attended Hamline University in St. Paul. On Sept. 3, 1950, she married Thomas Josephson in Watertown. They moved to Red Wing in 1950 where they owned and operated Josephson’s Clothing Store. She also worked as a medical assistant for Dr. Billings and Dr. Rayner. Thomas died on Nov. 1, 2008.

She was an active member of First United Methodist Church and the PEO Sisterhood Chapter ET. She also volunteered for Fairview Red Wing Hospice. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed cooking.

Survivors include three children, Ronald (Jeanne) Josephson of Juneau, Alaska, Roy Josephson of Haines, Alaska, and Mary Ann Josephson of St. Paul; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and the Brad Kimball family.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Martha; one grandson, Aaron; one sister, Genevieve Wubbels; and three brothers, Milo, Virgil, and Garrett Sikkink.

Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Friday, July 27, at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Greg Strunk officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, July 26, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, and at the church for 1 hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the church, donor’s choice, Hedin-Hartnagel Fund or PEO Sisterhood.
