In a group of more than 40 works of art, two artists’ creations shined through and earned a spot on a bottle of Cannon River Winery wines.
The contest was the winery’s second of its kind and was used to determine which labels would don the bottles of the newest vintage Sogn Blanc and Sogn Blush.
For an entire month, all submissions were laid out in a room at the winery where visitors could browse and vote on their favorites.
“People really do like to have that input. Especially if the one they voted for wins,” Cannon River Winery marketing manager Bergit Nerheim said.
The artwork done by Barb Bruns and Beth Bacon each had their entry selected.
While Bruns’ creation for Sogn Blanc depicts a quiet day relaxing on wooden chairs and overlooking nature’s scenery, Bacon’s Sogn Blush label shows soft rays of sun shining over a vineyard just before nightfall.
In celebration of the Sogn Series Artist Labels Contest winners, Cannon River Winery will hold a release party noon to 5 p.m. Saturday Aug. 4. Bruns and Bacon will be on hand to bottle the product.
“Guests will be able to watch the process and see how bottling is done,” Nerheim said.
Additionally, musical entertainment will be provided by Daniel Switch and Jagged Ease.
“It’s a pretty full day of events,” Nerheim added.
While the celebration is being prepared for this year’s contest winners, art submissions are already being accepted for next year’s competition.
Local artists can find entry guidelines by visiting www.cannonriverwinery.com or by calling Nerheim at 651-485-4261.
