Red Wing man gets nearly six years for robbery
A Red Wing man was sentenced Friday to 71 months in prison for second-degree aggravated robbery, a felony. Curtis Eugene Venzant, 30, pleaded guilty to the charge in March.

According to the court complaint, Venzant robbed a man Jan. 24 in the backseat of a vehicle parked outside the Parkway Motel, 3425 Highway 61. Venzant held a knife with a 7-to-8-inch blade to the victim’s neck and demanded $250 from him.
Venzant was also charged with second-degree assault, terroristic threats, fifth-degree drug possession and interfering with a 911 call. Those charges were dismissed.
Venzant will serve his time at Minnesota Correctional Facility–St. Cloud. He will receive credit for 172 days already served.
