Girls Golf: Red Wing golfers tally low scores at Junior Girls State Championship

Red Wing’s Marisa Toivonen finished tied for seventh Friday at the Minnesota Junior Girls Golf State Championship at Oak Marsh Golf Club in Oakdale, Minn.

Red Wing’s Marisa Toivonen finished tied for seventh Friday at the Minnesota Junior Girls Golf State Championship at Oak Marsh Golf Club in Oakdale, Minn.

Toivonen finished with a two-day total of 154 and finished 14-over par for the tournament. Toivonen tied with Sara Detlefsen and Emma Groom for seventh place.

Toivonen shot a 9-over par 79 on the first day of the tournament and followed that up with a 5-over 75 Friday.

Red Wing’s Katie Kesti finished tied for 19th after a two-day total of 160. Kesti shot 82 on Wednesday and 78 on Friday.

Red Wing’s Stephanie Herzog tied for 31st overall with a 170. Herzog shot 83-87 to finish 17-over par.

Solveig Christenson also competed in the tournament and placed eighth in the first flight with a 183. Christenson finished the tournament with an 89 after posting a 94 during the first day of play.
