Red Wing Arts Association adds BlooMNart to its garden tour this year, featuring local florists and gardeners creating arrangements to complement art.
Local gardeners and florists will create floral arrangements that relate to one of the paintings created during the Plein Air Art Festival last month.
The inspiration for the arrangement may be the color, theme, composition or mood the florist sees in the painting.
Brian Schneider from Inspired will create an arrangement to pair with Mike Rada’s artwork “Stop, Look, and Listen,” a painting of a railroad crossing in Wisconsin.
Deb Griffin from Hallstrom’s will work with Andy Evansen’s “June Afternoon, Lake City.”
Amy Olson of Scenic Spaces Landscape and Gardens selected Hannah Heyer’s painting of “A Farm Near Frontenac” for her inspiration.
Master Gardener Bonnie Mann will arrange flowers to go with Dan Wiemer’s watercolor painting called “North Trail.”
Red Wing artist Verneil Voth will complete three arrangements based on paintings by Art Kenyon’s “Shadow Pines” and Fred Somers’ “Overlook” and “Secret Garden.”
Joyce Malinowski will work with a painting by Gale Berndt titled “Just Off of 5th Street.”
In addition to five private gardens, the tour will host floral arranging demonstrations at the Depot. The schedule features members of the Goodhue County Horticultural Society including 10 a.m. Amy Olson, 10:30 a.m. Joyce Rapp, 11:30 a.m. Mary Brickzin-Gale and noon Joyce Malinowski.
Tickets for the tour are on sale at the Depot Gallery, Inspired, Hallstrom’s Downtown and Sargent’s Nursery for $15. For more information, visit www.redwingartsassociation or call 651.388.7569.
