Baseball: Boldt tabbed to play in Perfect Games All-American Classic

Ryan Boldt’s busy summer of baseball will continue with another event after he was selected to play in the Perfect Games All-American Classic in San Diego.
Boldt was one of 38 players selected for the Aug. 12 game. The selection show will air 6 p.m. Thursday on the CBS Sports Network on channel 613 for DirecTV users, channel 412 for Charter subscribers and channel 158 for Dish Network users.
The game will be played at Petco Park and fans can watch it on the CBS Sports Network.
Boldt was also named to the 2012 Chicago White Sox Area Code team as part of the Area Code Games. Boldt is one of 26 players from the Midwest named to the team, which will compete Aug. 5-10 in Long Beach, Calif. Eight regional teams are selected from the class of 2013, 2014 and 2015 high school players.
Boldt recently competed in the Prospect Classic in Durham, N.C. where he vied for a spot on the USA Baseball 18U National team. Boldt secured a spot on the 28-man roster and one final tryout remains in order to make the 20-man roster, which will compete in the International Baseball Federation Junior 18 World Championships in Seoul, Korea from Aug. 30 through Sept. 8.
The final tryout begins Aug. 17 in Los Angeles.
Boldt, who has verbally committed to the University of Nebraska, hit .423 with 28 RBI, three home runs and 16 stolen bases for Red Wing during the high school season.
