Baseball: Boldt makes 28-man roster

Red Wing’s Ryan Boldt made the 28-man roster for USA Baseball at the Prospect Classic in Durham, N.C. Boldt played in the final two games of the tournament against the Collegiate national team.

Coon Rapids’ Logan Shore also made the 28-man roster, which will be trimmed down to 20 for the IBAF Junior 18U World Championships in Seoul, Korea.

Boldt hit 6-for-16 in the Tournament of the Stars June 20-24, but went 2-for-12 in the 18U National Team Trials and Training phase from June 25-July 1.

Boldt reached base once in a 6-6 tie against the USA Baseball Stars Tuesday. Boldt had three plate appearances Monday for the Stripes against the USA Baseball Stars and reached base once.

Phase two of the tryout trials begins Aug. 17 in Los Angeles for final roster cuts.
