Art takes bloom

The annual Red Wing Arts Association Garden Tour will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday July 15.

Imagine a garden of annuals at a gracious Red Wing home. Picture another featured in national magazines.

The annual Red Wing Arts Association Garden Tour will visit these and more from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday July 15.

Visitors may tour five lush gardens plus enjoy the container gardens and BlooMNart Floral Show at the Red Wing Depot Gallery.

Area florists and gardeners will select a painting from the 2012 Plein Air Gallery Show. Floral artists will create a bouquet that will relate in some way to that painting. It could be in theme, color or design.

Visit this BlooMNart Floral Show located at the Red Wing Depot Gallery at 10:00 a.m. and purchase Garden Tour Passport tickets for $15. Tickets also may be purchased prior to the event at the Depot Gallery, Inspired Home and Flower Studio, Sargent’s Nursery and at Hallstrom’s Florist and Greenhouses.

A passport gives you entrance to the Depot Gallery BlooMNart Floral Show and Garden Show including the five featured gardens. Goodhue County Master Gardeners, many members of the Goodhue County Horticulture Society, will be available at each garden to answer questions.

Each location offers a variety of themes and presentations.

Visit the gardens and find the summer living room created by the garden’s owners who have brought a sense of country into town. Garden art and an occasional faerie house adorn a country garden. Peace and healing are conveyed beside an established native prairie at another.

Visitors will find inspiration at this year’s selection of gardens.

Arts association artists will be working at each garden accompanied with performances by local musicians. The works created are donated to Red Wing Arts Association and will be on display at the Depot Gallery beginning Sunday July 22.

The public is invited to participate in a silent auction on the artwork until the final auction at 11 a.m. Saturday Aug. 4.

Proceeds from the ticket sales and from the sale of Garden Tour artwork benefit the Red Wing Arts Association.
