Commissioners thankful for K-9 donation

The Goohdue County Board issued a proclamation of support for Nestle Purina of Hager City, Wis., at its meeting Monday, thanking the company for a donation. Nestle Purina contributed $5,000 to the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office to help pay for the cost of Havoc, the department’s newest K-9.

Havoc is a German shepherd and Belgian malinois mix. He’s the K-9 partner of Deputy Jim Goham.

Meeting watch

Monday’s County Board meeting lasted 35 minutes. All members were present. The meeting was on the Cannon Valley Fairgrounds in Cannon Falls.

Goodhue County Health and Human Services Board

New officers elected

The Health and Human Services Board elected a new president, vice president and secretary for the 2012-13 year at its meeting Monday at the Cannon Valley Fair.

Former Vice President Dan Rechtzigel was elected to the president position, which he’ll take over from Commissioner Richard Samuelson.

“I look forward to another good productive year as we have a lot of issues to tackle,” Rechtzigel said.

Commissioner Ron Allen moves from being secretary to now serving as vice president, and Commissioner Jim Bryant was elected to serve as the new secretary.

Meeting watch

Monday’s Health and Human Services Board meeting lasted 10 minutes. Board member Mary Lindahl was absent.
