UPDATE: Highway 58 reopens

A semi-truck crashed on Highway 58 Thursday morning, causing the road to close for several hours, the Minnesota Department of Transportation reported. The road reopened at about 12:45 p.m.

Gregory Trent, 44, of Winfield, Ill., was driving the semi-truck southbound when he lost control of the vehicle, hit a guardrail and rolled in the ditch at about 6:40 a.m.

Trent was not injured in the crash, Minnesota State Patrol reported.

A DOT spokeswoman said that the trucks needed to tow a semi-truck “take a lot of room,” which caused the closure of the road.

Northbound traffic was routed to county roads 9, 2 and 5. Southbound traffic was routed to county roads 5, 2 and 3.

Goodhue County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.
