People might be tempted to wallow in the region’s collective misery this weekend. We’re coming off severe wind and flood damage that’s so bad the Minnesota governor has declared a state of emergency in several counties including this one.

People might be tempted to wallow in the region’s collective misery this weekend. We’re coming off severe wind and flood damage that’s so bad the Minnesota governor has declared a state of emergency in several counties including this one.

Living in the doldrums would be a mistake. The summer of 2012 has plenty of reasons to celebrate.

Consider Lake City Waterski Days and Ellsworth Cheese Curd Festival this weekend. They offer great food, good entertainment, arts, crafts, athletic contests, community worship services and more to rest the body and revive the spirits.

Use them to celebrate the good side of summer. You’ll head into Monday ready to work and to lend a hand to those hit hardest by storms.
