Learn how to improve nutrition
Fruits and vegetables are critical to promoting good health. Join in 2 p.m. Tuesday June 26 and learn about how to include more fruits and vegetables in your diet and sample easy, healthful recipes. Class instructed by Ruthanne Koski, a community nutrition educator with the University of Minnesota Extension for Goodhue and Wabasha counties. Cost is $5 members, $7 nonmembers. Registration is required.
What is an iPad?
The iPad is a brilliant, magical window. Come and learn what it is all about at 1 p.m. Tuesday June 26. If you have an iPad, bring it and share with us how you use it. You do not need to have an iPad to come to this class. Just come to hear and see where technology is going in the world today. Cost is $10 members, $15 nonmembers.
Gentle Yoga for Seniors
Learn gentle yoga positions, start anytime, with certified yoga instructor Michelle Hoffman from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesdays. Cost for six sessions $45 individuals, $80 couples.
Gentle chair yoga can provide many benefits for conditions like arthritis, diabetes, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic pain and more.
Socialize with others
The following games will be played: 500 – 1 p.m. Monday June 25; Scrabble - 1 p.m. Wednesdays; Fun Bridge – 10 a.m. Wednesdays.
Support services offered
Several support groups and services are available.
• Resources and Referrals will meet 1-3 p.m. Wednesday June 27.
• Foot care clinic will be available Thursdays from 1 to 3:30 p.m. with a home health nurse. To schedule an appointment, call Fairview Red Wing Homecare and Hospice at 651-385-3410. The cost is $32.
Medical equipment available
Gently used medical equipment is available at the Senior Center to use for up to three months during a period of medical convalescence or short-term disability.
Items include wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, shower chairs, commodes and more. If you need something, visit or call the center. A $20 donation is requested to help with the ongoing program costs.
