The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department reported Friday night that they had recovered the body of the 38-year-old Bay City man who was presumed drowned.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office, Pierce and Goodhue counties' water patrol deputies and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources officers recovered Troy Goehrs’ body along the shoreline of Lake Pepin near Maiden Rock on Friday afternoon, the sheriff’s department reported.

Officers have been searching for Goehrs since June 9, when he was boating on Lake Pepin with his wife, Brenda. He fell into the water and she jumped in to try to rescue him, but was unable to. She swam to shore and called authorities from a residence in Bay City.

The officers have been using sonar equipment and boats to search the water along with all-terrain vehicles and aircraft to scour the shoreline.

In a news release Friday, the sheriff’s department thanked the employees of Wisconsin Industrial Sand for their assistance in the recovery. The department also was assisted by deputies from Pierce, St. Croix, Goodhue, Dakota and Washington counties, Wisconsin DNR wardens and the Minnesota State Patrol.
