Alison Scott, a new voice out of the Minneapolis music scene, will perform 8 p.m. Saturday June 23 in Zumbrota. Grammy-winning Kevin Bowe will accompany her on guitar.
The singer/songwriter rips up the stage like a modern-day Carole King, promoters said, making an impression with her piano and a strong, romantic voice.
Bowe is a guitarist/writer/producer and two-time Grammy winner, working with such artists as Jonny Lang, Paul Westerberg, Etta James, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Scott has sold out the Dakota Jazz Club in the Twin Cities more than a dozen consecutive shows. She has performed at benefits, corporate functions and opened for several national acts such as Bon Jovi, Chris Isaak, Marc Cohn, Boz Scaggs and Nanci Griffith.
After signing with a national agency, her band has started touring in earnest. Scott’s CDs have sold almost 10,000 units; the newest release, “Chinese Whispers,” has just been picked up for national distribution and was named one of the year’s 10 best by the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
Scott and Bowe are joined by band members drummer Peter Anderson, bassist Steve Price and keyboardist James Tyler O’Neill.
