Former Red Wing High School standout Pat Kelly received Freshmen All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball Wednesday after his first year at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
Kelly hit .313 with eight home runs and 37 RBI for the Huskers. Kelly played in 41 games at shortstop and second base and finished third on the team in slugging percentage at .521. Kelly’s eight home runs were the most by a Nebraska freshman since 2000. Kelly also had 16 extra-base hits and six doubles.
Kelly had 11 multi-hit games, including two four-hit games. Kelly hit .367 with runners on and .364 with runners in scoring position.
