First Thursday Fun Fest

Cannon Falls kicks off the First Thursday Fun Fest season. The street fair features vendor booths with a variety of merchandise. Don’t forget the live music, bingo, Matchbox car race track, games, clowns, face-painting and concessions.

Sheldon Theatre

The Sheldon’s summer season includes a film series. The 1961 version of “West Side Story” will be shown. Winner of 10 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, this electrifying musical sets the ageless tragedy of Romeo and Juliet against a backdrop of gang warfare in 1950s New York.

Volksfest Festival

The annual celebration is held in the small farm town of Goodhue. Today’s events include Civil War encampment at the museum, a quilt show from 4 to 10 p.m. in high school, Miss Goodhue pageant at 7 p.m. in the high school and a street dance with live entertainment from Stern County 17 and headliner Lost Highway.

Today’s events include a 5K Udder Run at 9 a.m., craft show at the Lions Community Center from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Civil War marching drill at 10 a.m. at the museum, community carnival from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the school, kiddie parade at 11 a.m. from the White Rock Bank to the school, lawn mower derby at 11 a.m. next to Goodhue Chiropractic, karaoke from 2:30 to 4:20 p.m. downtown, a pie and ice cream social from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at Doc Sawyers, parade at 5 p.m., street dance with live music from Rocket Club and Craig Morgan at 7:30 p.m. and the evening ends with a firework show near Rosie Park at dusk.

Saturday Market

The Red Wing Farmers Market Association welcomes songwriter and folk guitarist Tim Fast performing from 10 a.m.-noon. Special features will include a demonstration of jig tying with Scott Kosek, along with homemade fruits and vegetables, flowers and plants, soaps and lotions, baked goods, jams and honey.

Summer Car Cruze-Ins

The River Falls Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau will host Car Cruze-Ins. Classic cars, rat rods, motorcycles and other show vehicles are welcome. Bring a vehicle or just come to enjoy downtown, live music, food, shopping and various prizes. June’s theme is Town N’ Country Day and includes a free breakfast in the morning, root beer floats in the afternoon and plenty of family activities all day long.
