Girls Golf: Lake City falls short of state

Lake City’s Katy Bolduc shot an 84 to capture medalist honors, but the Tigers came up one shot shy of a state tournament berth.

Stewartville shot 364 to edge Lake City by one shot and got an 86 from MacKenzie Olsen to lead the team Thursday at the Section 1AA meet at The Jewel Golf Club in Lake City.

Taylor Bestor shot 89, Jessica Rosenblad added a 94 and Blair Honsey shot 95 to give Stewartville the title.

Lake City got a 90 from eighth-grader Emily Schimbeno, a 93 from sophomore Erin Pennington while freshman Claire Gruber shot 98. Brandy Geolat shot 99 for Lake City and Sam Spinner had a 103. Only the top four scores count toward the team score.

Bolduc and Schimbeno qualified for the state meet with their scores.

Zumbrota-Mazeppa got a 93 from Hannah Brengman, a 94 from Kari Thorson and Molly Lawler shot 95.

Cannon Falls’ Tatum Plonsky shot 103.
