Red Wing man announces run for City Council
Red Wing resident Jason Sebion announced he will run for the City Council Ward 1 seat.
Red Wing resident Jason Sebion announced he will run for the City Council Ward 1 seat.
Sebion, a Red Wing native, said while he knows the city’s financial problems have not easy fix, he plans to keep taxes low.
“We need to boost our tax base by making Red Wing a more attractive place to do business,” he said. “New corporate investment means new jobs and new tax revenues for the city, which keeps the lid on taxes for homeowners.”
Sebion also said public safety issues are important to him, such as putting the Burnside area fire station “back on the front burner.”
“I personally witnessed a fatality on Highway 61 several years ago that might have been prevented if help had been able to arrive sooner,” he said. “I know times are tough, but when lives are at stake, we must make the right choice.”
Current Ward 1 Council member Dan Bender had previously announced he would not run for re-election.
