To the Editor:
I had surgery at Fairview Red Wing Medical Center and want to sing praises of the wonderful care I received. Linda L. was my nurse from start to finish. I was so nervous, wanting to be a good patient but preoccupied about the whole thing. Linda was gentle, explained everything thoroughly and observed me well.
When I said that I was well enough to go home and discovered that I wasn’t, she explained that I needed more time in recovery and made sure that I received what I needed.
I have witnessed patients being “shoved” out of recovery and was thrilled that I had a different experience.
I appreciate the team — nurse, doctor and anesthetist — for the care and extreme kindness. Our community awaits word on whether our hospital/clinic will become part of the Mayo system or stay with Fairview. Regardless, I think we’re fortunate to have a good regional facility. I was thrilled that I didn’t have to leave town.
