Senior Katie Kesti shot a 76 to lead Red Wing to a Missota Conference Championship with a second place finish Monday at the Missota Conference Tournament at Deer Run Country Club in Victoria.
The total points from the entire season are added up to name a champion with the final meet worth double the points. The Wingers ended with 46 points while Chanhassen and New Prague tied for second with 40 points.
“I really am pleased with the way the girls are playing,” Red Wing head coach Mark Herzog said. “The girls are surpassing my expectations all year. They keep teeing it up and they continue to play well.”
Kesti, senior Marisa Toivonen and sophomore Nicole Schammel all were named All-Conference for their performances this season. Seventh-grader Stephanie Herzog missed All-Conference by one point and was named All-Conference Honorable Mention.
Chanhassen won Monday’s meet with a 319, Red Wing was second with a 321 and New Prague finished third at 325.
“We played well except for a couple out-of-bounds,” Mark Herzog said. “321 is another really good score. We get kind of spoiled.”
Toivonen shot a 78, Stephanie Herzog finished with an 83, Schammel had an 84, ninth-grader Reagan Haley tallied a 90 and junior Maddie Flack scored a 92 for the Wingers.
Brenna Lervick, of Chanhassen, was the meet medalist with a 68.
Red Wing hosts Prior Lake Thursday at Mississippi National Golf Course in Red Wing.
