Boys Golf: Byron captures HVL title

Top-ranked Byron cruised to the Hiawatha Valley League Conference championship Thursday with a 328 at Zumbrota Golf Course.

Dom Kieffer’s 76 and Connor Hedlund’s 79 paced the Bears while Nate Hemann shot 86 and Logan Bashaw shot 87.

Lake City placed third with a 346 as three players broke 90. Sam Klipfel led the Tigers with an 83, Jack Falvey added an 84 and Matt Glasenapp added an 86. Cory Dick finished with a 93.

Cannon Falls finished ninth with a 379 and Matt Moskal led the Bombers with an 87. Jack Hudak shot 95 while Kyle Peters finished with a 98 and Ed McElmury had a 99.

Zumbrota-Mazeppa shot 393 to finish 11th. Josh Nelson led the team with a 92. Isaac Leonard shot 97, Noah Erickson 100 and Joey O’Gorman 104.
