Baseball: Z-M bounces back against Goodhue

Zumbrota-Mazeppa bounced after two consecutive losses to beat Goodhue 11-1 in five innings in Zumbrota.

The Cougars (5-14, 4-8 HVL) got five innings of three-hit ball from starter Kevin Niebuhr and Zach VanOstrand went 3-for-3 with two runs.

Niebuhr struck out nine and walked three after giving up 10 earned runs in 2 1/3 innings Monday against Byron.

Austin Walstad finished 2-for-2 with two RBI while Cody Krueger went 1-for-2 with two RBI and Jacob Ugland drove in three runs with a double.

Goodhue got its lone run on a home run from Kyle Diercks in the fourth inning.

Zumbrota-Mazeppa faces Winona Cotter Tuesday in Zumbrota.
