AgStar Financial Services announced last week that it will partner with national accounting firm CliftonLarsonAllen LLP. CLA will take over AgStar’s tax and accounting services as of July 1.

“This alliance is a perfect fit for our clients, allowing us to bring more value to those currently using AgStar’s tax and accounting services,” said Wick Manley, executive vice president and chief relationship management officer of AgStar.

Some AgStar employees will be transferred to CLA, Manley said.

While AgStar will not offer any tax or service bureau accounting services under the AgStar brand, it will continue to provide on-farm accounting support and financial analysis. The partnership with CLA will incorporate tax planning, tax compliance and service bureau and all accounting services.

AgStar also announced its first quarter earnings last week. Net after-tax earnings totaled $23.9 million, an increase of 2 percent over last year’s first quarter performance.

“We are pleased with our first quarter performance,” President and CEO Paul Debriyn said.

AgStar, based in Mankato, Minn., employs more than 600 people and has offices throughout southeastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
