Amateur Baseball: Big inning propels Cannon Falls to victory

The Cannon Falls Bears scored seven runs in the sixth inning and coasted to an 11-3 victory against the Dundas Dukes Sunday in Cannon Falls.

The Cannon Falls Bears scored seven runs in the sixth inning and coasted to an 11-3 victory against the Dundas Dukes Sunday in Cannon Falls.

Brandon Voth finished 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI for the Bears (3-0, 2-0 Classic Cannon Valley). Nate Otto was 3-for-4 with a run scored and Luke Winchell went 1-for-4 with a double and three RBI in the win. Rich Burr was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI while scoring two runs.

Keith Meyers pitched six innings for Cannon Falls to pick up the win. He allowed two earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out one.

The Dukes made an error to start the sixth inning and it was all downhill from there as a 3-2 Bears’ lead ballooned to 10-2. Cannon Falls had just three hits in the seven run inning but worked three walks to go along with a three-run home run and a three-run double.

The Bears play again Wednesday at home against the River Falls Fighting Fish.
