Boys Golf: Westerberg medals for Red Wing at Chaska

Blake Westerberg shot a 3-under par 69 Monday as Red Wing finished sixth during a Missota meet hosted by Chaska at the Chaska Town Course.

Westerberg, a senior, was the meet medalist.

“He’s been playing very well lately,” Red Wing head coach Todd Petterson said. “That should probably put him near the top 10 in the state (for scoring average).”

Chanhassen won the meet with a 294, Chaska shot a 306 for second place and Farmington was third at 312.

Red Wing senior Matthew Petterson finished with an 84, senior Tyler Grove shot an 86, sophomore Zach Sachen tallied an 88, senior Jarrett Enevold had a 90 and senior Ross Elford contributed a 97.

The Wingers get a short break before competing next at the Missota Conference tournament Monday at Northfield Golf Club.

“We’re looking forward to getting back to the practice range and working on some stuff,” Todd Petterson said. “It’s really hard to work on it when you’re playing matches all the time. That’s what we’re kind of hoping to do.”
