Pepin-Alma squandered an opportunity to claim the Dunn-St. Croix small division title Monday in a 4-1 loss to Elmwood in Elmwood.
The Eagles (8-9, 6-6 Dunn-St. Croix) came into the game tied in the standings for the lead, but a disastrous first inning prevented Pepin-Alma from capturing the conference title.
The Eagles opened the game by hitting the first hitter and committing errors in the field to allow two runs to score as Elmwood went on to win 4-1. Elmwood put up three runs in the first inning courtesy of Pepin-Alma miscues. Elmwood had just one earned run in the game.
Logan Wolf and Noah Wells each went 3-for-4 with an RBI for Elmwood. Wolf also earned the win on the mound. Wolf struck out six and allowed one run on five hits.
Zach Vreeland finished 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Eagles, who scored their lone run in the third inning.
