Red Wing head coach Mark Herzog said the Wingers weren’t happy with their performance Thursday at the Andover Invitational but Red Wing still placed first out of 16 teams at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids.

The Wingers shot a 346, two strokes ahead of second place New Prague, despite not having an individual place in the top five.

“It wasn’t a horrible day but the girls weren’t real pleased with their scores,” Herzog said. “We got done and they saw the course had something to do with that too.”

Senior Katie Kesti finished with an 85 to lead Red Wing. Seventh-grader Stephanie Herzog tallied an 86, sophomore Nicole Schammel contributed an 87, senior Marisa Toivonen shot an 88, junior Maddie Flack had a 94 and ninth-grader Reagan Haley notched a 102.

McKenzie Neisen, of New Prague, was the medalist with a 75.

The Wingers are back in action Saturday at Emerald Greens Golf Course in Hastings for the Irish Invite hosted by Rosemount.
